Macaulay Culkin Does It 'My Way'

Macaulay Culkin hit up The Red Door Lounge in Billings, MT last night where he did a fantastic rendition of the classic song, "My Way" -- but did he do it as well as our own Harvey Levin did?

Now HL's version, slightly more produced and with the help of Paul Anka.

So the question is ...  UPDATE: From our bitter boss ...

Move Over Jem, There?s A New Hologram In Town

Yesterday afternoon, Darion and I made our way downtown to attend the 2011 Anime Expo going on at the Convention Center this weekend so that we could attend the Hatsune Miku concert. Hatsune Miku, you ask? Well, she is the world?s first hologram popstar. She is a computer generated singer who has been all the rage in Japan for the past few years. Last night?s concert was her first ever here in the US. As a big Jem and the Holograms fan from back in the day, there was no way I was gonna miss seeing this real life hologram concert.

Altho Miku isn?t a real person, her backing band is made up of real people ? 10 people, to be exact. A 6-person string section, guitarist, basist, keyboardist and drummer. She also has 3 hologram friends who perform with her sometimes. Here are some photos of what Miku looks like on stage:

I?m telling you ? photos do not do justice to how cool Miku looks ?in person?. She is a fully realized 3D life-sized character. Obvs, she looks flat in photos but in person, her 3D projected hologram form is really freakin? cool to see. Because she (Read more...)

Pink Explains Her Baby?s Unique Name Willow Sage

Celebrities are great at picking ridiculous unique names for their children. We have Gwyneth Paltrow who named her daughter Apple, then there is Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz who gave their son the name Bronx Mowgli, Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale named their boys Kingston and Zuma, and the newest celebrity to make that list is Pink who named her first daughter with Carey Hart, Willow Sage.

PHOTOS: Pink, Carey Hart, and New Baby Willow Sage Go Out For Lunch

Of course, behind every unique name is a story that gives it meaning. Pink recently shared with Hello! magazine the inspiration behind the carefully selected name. Regarding Willow, Pink explains, ?I grew up near one. It is the most flexible tree and nothing can break it ? no wind, no elements. It can bend and withstand anything. I love that sentiment and I want that for her.? Of the second name, Pink shares, ?Sage is cleansing and sacred and it sounds great with Willow.?

The new Hart family recently spent the day at the beach where both parents were all smiles. New mommy Pink and daddy Hart are absolutely loving parenthood as as is evident by recent tweets. Unfortunately, like all celebrity parents, she is realizing fast that the public can?t get enough of her Willow Sage. Pink has released a statement requesting that people stop taking unauthorized pictures of her little one. I respect her privacy, I just hope she is willing to satiate our craving for celebrity baby by releasing some of her own adorable pictures.

Ewan McGregor & Christian Bale Filmed Awkward Sex Scene

ewansex1 Ewan McGregor & Christian Bale Filmed Awkward Sex Scene

Ewan McGregor revealed an embarrassing but hilarious incident while filming a sex scene with actor Christian Bale. See what McGregor had to say below!

Ewan McGregor shared a very funny story about filming a part for the movie ?Velvet Goldmine? with actor Christian Bale.

Ewan plays the role of a rock star who is having a fling with a journalist, played by Christian Bale.  McGregor admits the roof top simulated sex romp was a very awkward moment in his acting career.

The actor told the U.K. talk show host Graham Norton, ?I did have a sex scene with Christian Bale, which I did to the best of my ability. I was playing an Iggy Pop-type rock star and we have a shag on top of a rooftop but they wanted to shoot it from another rooftop. We heard, ?Action!? so we started to slowly (simulate sex). Then it went on and on. Then I thought, I would have (finished) by now so I went round to his ear and went, ?I think I would have (finished) by now. I?m going to have a look.? I looked over and they were packing up the cameras!

?They must have said ?cut? really quietly. I think they thought it was a sensitive thing, they should just leave it to us. There?s nothing wrong with (screaming), ?Cut!??

Love that story?too funny!

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley: Malibu Beach Babe

Getting some much-needed relaxation following her worldwide "Transformers" press efforts, Rosie Huntington Whiteley joined boyfriend Jason Statham at a Fourth of July weekend beach party in Malibu yesterday (July 2).

The 24-year-old English beauty looked completely content as she lounged around on the sandy shoreline and cuddled with her "Transporters" beau during the holiday fete.

During her heavy duty "Transformers" media blitz, Miss Huntington-Whiteley attended numerous premieres while also partaking in multiple magazine cover shoots - including the July 2011 issue of British GQ.

With the behind-the-scenes video available for viewing pleasure above, Rosie made it clear that she's on a mission to give it her all when it comes to making it as a Hollywood actress.

She told the mag, "Would I like even a sniff of Angelina Jolie?s career? Yes. Do I think I have a future in this business? I certainly hope so. And I?m going to work damn hard to make sure I do."

Rihanna: Club Nikki Party Girl

Fresh off of performing at the Mandalay Bay Resort Event Center, Rihanna headed over to the Tropicana Hotel to host an afterparty at Club Nikki on Saturday night (July 2).

The Barbadian beauty was clad in an emerald green dress as she arrived at around 2:30AM, tweeting on her way to the Sin City hotspot, "Nikki Beach bout to be JUMPIN'!!!! Here I come..."

Once inside, RiRi grabbed herself a beverage as she mingled with guests including rocker Travis Barker and UFC fighter Dominick Cruz, who was toting around his championship belt after beating Urijah Faber in a contest at MGM Grand earlier the same night.

Meanwhile, a new report from TMZ adds a little credence to the rumors that Rihanna is, indeed, dating Canadian rapper Drake - as they obtained a photo of the pair getting cozy at the Buonanotte Supperclub in Montreal on June 12th.

The TMZ source dished that the "What's My Name?" hitmakers were "all over each other" the whole night, adding that they were "making out" in front of fellow patrons.

Edward Flattau: Environmental Masochism

Pollution is non-partisan when it comes to claiming victims. That is why it is astonishing to find a majority of Republican respondents in a recent national poll favoring the abolition of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Even politicians most sharply critical of the EPA readily concede that progress in curbing pollution over the last four decades is largely due to the federal agency’'s enforcement of landmark environmental laws passed by Congress in the 1970s’. Past success, however, does not mean that victory is at hand. Empirical evidence dictates it is delusional to think that the battle against pollution has been won, or that the remaining problems can be resolved through regulation-free spontaneity on industry’s part.

So what was the majority of the prospective Republican voters in this poll thinking? Certainly not the thoughts held by the overwhelming majority of Americans according to a poll of all party affiliations conducted by the Rasmussen organization. Three out of every four respondents in the Rasmussen survey opposed elimination of the EPA. By contrast 42 percent of the Republicans who were queried favored abolition, while 40 percent were against the idea.

Are we witnessing a masochistic streak in the slim majority of Republicans wanting to do away with the EPA? To believe that industry is capable of policing itself is beyond naivety. The reality is that left to their own devices, most businesses that emit pollution will follow the money, even if that means treading punitively on the environment underfoot.

Maybe some of the Republican naysayers are not against environmental regulation per se, but simply think state and local agencies are better suited than the EPA to do the job. Here is another flight from reality. States and localities lack sufficient resources to tackle the formidable environmental and public health challenges on their own, a fact of life currently being learned the hard way. As a result of congressional Republicans forcing a $1.6 billion cut in EPA’s 2011 budget, state and local officials are discovering that reduction in federal fiscal help leaves them unable to adequately enforce their environmental laws.

In addition, state and local environmental regulators tend to be more susceptible than their federal counterparts to political pressure from affluent local business interests. Proximity can breed undue influence. The federal regulator answers to Washington, as opposed to some state or local agency head whose future job opportunities may depend on placating the local power structure.

What is the rationale of Republicans seeming to act against their own best interests by opposing the existence of a federal environmental regulatory agency?

Rasmussen'’s pollsters use a methodology that tends to single out political junkies, and that type of respondent in Republican ranks often is an avid listener to Right Wing talk radio. It is these Right Wing talk show hosts who incessantly revile the federal bureaucrats as devils incarnate issuing unnecessary economy-strangling regulations merely to solidify their own continued employment.

Anyone who swallows this guff requires an urgent wakeup call, because the nation desperately needs a united front to roll back environmental degradation that plays no favorites.

Edward Flattau's fourth book, 'Green Morality,' is now available.

Dennis McCarthy: Fireworks show brings Valley together

People enjoy the City of San Fernando's annual fireworks show at Recreation Park on Sunday, July 4, 2010, in San Fernando. (Hans Gutknecht/Staff Photographer)

S

ometimes, we take things for granted. The big Fourth of July fireworks show at Warner Center Park in Woodland Hills tomorrow night is one of them.

Last year, more than 50,000 people (like a sold-out Dodger Stadium - remember those?) crammed into the one-square-block park to picnic, enjoy live entertainment and a great fireworks show.

The crowd got so big, LAPD officers had to close off traffic on Topanga Canyon Boulevard to ease the pressure inside the park.

Families poured out onto the six-lane boulevard with their blankets and chairs for a better look at the sky.

The same will happen again this year because people know a good deal when they see one. You can't beat a free show, especially when it's a great one.

Is there anything better than lying on a blanket in the park next to your children and grandkids on the Fourth listening to "The Star-Spangled Banner" and other patriotic songs as the sky lights up with fabulous shooting colors that bring oohs and aahs from every blanket?

Take a look around at the faces. Young or old, doesn't make a difference. Complete awe.

I don't care where you live in the Valley, what race or religion you are, how much you have in the bank, or what your politics are - when lying on that blanket with your family tomorrow night in

the park everyone's feeling the same thing.

Pride in our country and how lucky we are to live in America.

Corny? Maybe, but so what? It's true.

It's hard to imagine that 16 years ago we almost lost this incredible Fourth of July celebration. Took it for granted.

The show was ending its 22-year run at Pierce College because of money problems. The repair and maintenance costs were higher than the $20,000 the Woodland Hills Chamber of Commerce was paying to rent the campus for the night.

With little advance warning, the show went from free to families showing up having to pay $10 for adults, $5 for children and seniors (plus a parking fee) to view the fireworks from the stadium and college grounds outside the stadium.

There was widespread resentment, including groups of angry gate-crashers. Happy Independence Day.

A scaled-down fireworks show was held for a few years at Valley College, but then nothing until 2001.

"I had just gotten elected and one of my campaign promises was to bring back a free, patriotic Fourth of July show to my district," says the guy who rode in on the white horse - Councilman Dennis Zine.

Actually, it was a Harley-Davidson, but the former LAPD officer proved good on one of his first promises as a politician.

He hooked up with Jim Kinsey, CEO and president of the Valley Cultural Center, which was putting on concerts in the park during the summer months.

"Dennis approached me with the idea, and it made sense. But we never imagined it would get this big," Kinsey said.

"About 10,000 people showed up that first year and we were shooting the fireworks from off the ground, which was scary."

Now the crowds are five times as large and the fireworks are shot off the roof of a nearby parking structure under the watchful eye of the city fire department.

Sponsorships, donations and some discretionary funds from Zine's office pay the $85,000 tab for the Fourth of July extravaganza.

About a third of the money goes for fireworks and the rest for live entertainment, security and cleanup.

"This show takes us all back to our youth," says Zine. "It brings families together in a positive, patriotic environment, and it doesn't cost them a dime. We want people just to enjoy it."

If you're going, get there early. Entertainment begins at 6 p.m. with the fireworks show starting at 9:05 p.m. It is suggested you take the Orange Line to Warner Center because parking is limited.

The park is located at 5800 Topanga Canyon Blvd., Woodland Hills.
